New Deluxe Bakery

New Deluxe Bakery
Oil on linen/panel, 2011, 5x7"
Today's  daily oil painting is the second painting I have done of the New Deluxe Bakery that closed it's doors a couple weeks ago. It is sad to see these wonderful family businesses close.
Rose closed the business do to  health reasons of her husband. I wish them well.

Great little painting, the pops of color, the triangle of light on the front sign, the window reflections (in contrast to the boarded up buildings), all nice touches.
Still showing some life.

We had one here too, family owned bakery been there forever, all my sisters had their wedding cakes made there, the building (beautiful art deco) was even in some TV commercials... then one day it was closed.
Had the same feeling... just always thought it would be there.
Keep painting Detroit...
